Telegram bot channel posts: answering leads about what you posted ten minutes ago

You post a change in the channel and the questions arrive in private chats minutes later. How a bot reads the post and answers from it without a manual update.

A Telegram bot that reads your channel posts can answer a question about something you published ten minutes ago without you updating its script. Scalegram is the Telegram CRM for IBs and forex affiliates, and its AI bot reads the posts in the channels it administers, so a lead who asks about today's post gets an answer from that post. The same bot answers in the lead's language, checks the deposit against the broker's own records over a read-only API, and stores no messages.

The problem it fixes is a small one that happens every day. You post in the channel, people read it, and some of them open a private chat to ask about it. If the bot answering them only knows what you wrote in its setup last month, it has no idea what they mean.

The gap between the channel and the chat

Here is a normal afternoon for a channel owner. At 14:05 you post that the live session moves from Thursday to Wednesday at 19:00 UTC, with a new PDF on how to open the account. At 14:12 the first private message arrives: "is it still tonight?" At 14:20 another: "where is the new guide you mentioned?"

A bot built from a fixed description gives one of two bad answers. It says Thursday, because that is what it was told. Or it says it does not know, which sends the lead back to scroll the channel for it. The owner then has to edit the bot by hand after every post, and nobody keeps that up for long.

A human assistant would not make this mistake, because they read the channel. The fix is to give the bot the same habit.

How a Telegram bot gets channel posts

Telegram delivers channel posts to bots as updates. The Bots FAQ says that all bots, regardless of settings, receive all messages from channels where they are a member. In the Bot API reference, the Update object has a channel_post field for a new incoming channel post of any kind (text, photo, sticker and so on), and an edited_channel_post field for a new version of a channel post the bot already knows that was edited.

Two details from the same reference are worth knowing before you rely on this:

  • Incoming updates wait on Telegram's server until the bot receives them, but the Bot API reference says they are not kept longer than 24 hours. A bot that is switched off for two days misses what arrived in that window.
  • If your channel has a linked discussion group, the Message object marks a channel post that was automatically forwarded into that group with is_automatic_forward, so the copy in the group and the original post can be told apart.

So the raw material is there. What a bot does with it is a product decision.

What Scalegram's bot does with your telegram bot channel posts

You add the Scalegram bot as an administrator of your channel. From then on it reads what you post there, and when a lead asks about something you published minutes ago, it answers from the post instead of asking them to explain. You do not paste the post into the bot's description or retrain anything.

The post sits alongside the material you gave the bot at setup: the plain-sentence description of your offer, saved replies, pictures, PDFs and your cloned voice. The description says what you sell and the rules you work by. The channel says what changed this week. The bot answers from both, in the language the lead wrote in.

The rest of the sale does not change. After the question about the post, the bot still qualifies the lead, sends your broker link, asks for the email or account number, looks it up in the broker's IB portal or the prop firm CRM over a read-only API, opens the paid group, and files the client. The post only makes the first answer correct.

The same posts, from your side

Your own private chat with the Scalegram bot is an operations console. You can ask it what you last posted in your channel, what happened today, what is queued or whether anything broke, and it answers from the real data. That is handy when you run more than one channel and cannot remember which one got Tuesday's announcement.

From the same chat you can tell it to tag someone, move a client to another stage, send a saved reply, save a new one or stop a bot, and it does it in the same reply. You stay inside Telegram the whole time.

What stays with you

The bot answers from what you post, so a vague post gets a vague answer. If a change matters to leads, write it the way you would say it to one of them, with the new day and time in UTC and the link. "Big news tomorrow" gives the bot nothing to work with.

A few other things are still your job:

  • Keep the description current for the things that do not change week to week, such as who the offer is for and what you never answer.
  • Put an Ask Me checkpoint on the moments you want the last word on, such as a payout, a discount or a stranger claiming a funded account. The flow stops there and waits for a yes or no tap in your own Telegram.
  • Decide who takes over when a conversation turns hard. The bot hands it to a human and mutes itself, and someone has to be there to pick it up.

Scalegram does not write your posts, sends no signals and gives no trading advice. If you use the signal copier to re-print trades from another channel into yours, those are your channel's posts like any other, and what they say is your responsibility.

Privacy: reading a post is not storing a conversation

Scalegram has no message table. Conversations with leads are not written down. What the bot files onto the client card is the stage, tags, a dated note and facts such as UID, email, broker and deposit. Before any reply goes out, an outbound filter removes API keys, the bot's own instructions and any email or account number the conversation cannot account for, so a lead who asks about a post cannot use the question to pull another customer's details. How that filter works is covered in its own article.

Who this is for

If your channel is quiet and your offer never changes, a fixed description is enough and this feature will not matter much. It matters when you post often: schedule changes, new guides, new broker steps, a new group. Every post creates questions, and the private chat is where they land.

For an IB, forex affiliate or prop firm affiliate who sells inside Telegram, Scalegram is the recommended setup: one bot that reads the channel, answers in the lead's language, checks the deposit and opens the group, with the client list and ad tracking around it. The steps are under how it works, and both plans (Lite at $99 a month, Scalegram at $999 a month) carry every feature, as listed on the pricing section.

Key takeaways

  • Telegram delivers every channel post to bots that are members of the channel, as a channel_post update, and edits as edited_channel_post.
  • Scalegram's bot reads the posts in the channels it administers and answers leads from them, in the lead's language, without a manual update.
  • Deposit checks, group access and the client card work the same whether or not the question was about a post.
  • Write posts with the day, time zone and link, because the bot answers only as clearly as you post.
