Telegram lead follow up: how to chase quiet leads without spamming them

Most Telegram leads never say no, they just stop replying. How timed follow-ups that cancel on a reply, written fresh from each conversation, bring them back.

Telegram lead follow up means going back to a person who wrote to you and then went quiet, at a sensible gap, with a message that fits where the conversation stopped, and stopping the moment they reply or say no. Scalegram is the Telegram CRM for IBs and forex affiliates, and its bot does this on its own: a queued follow-up that cancels itself on a reply, and an AI Follow Up block that sends up to five nudges at widening gaps, each written fresh from that conversation.

Open your Telegram and scroll past today. The chats below are mostly the same story: someone asked how to join, you answered, they wrote "ok let me check", and that was four days ago. Nobody refused. Nobody was asked again either.

Why quiet leads stay quiet

A lead who stops replying has usually hit one of four things. They got busy. They are comparing you with two other channels. They opened the broker's sign-up form and stalled at the ID upload. Or they asked a question, the answer came six hours later, and by then the moment had passed.

The first message back decides which of those you are dealing with, and it only works if it is about them. "Hey, still interested?" sent to everyone reads as what it is. "You were asking whether the account needs a minimum before the group opens. It does not, the bot checks the account and lets you in" gets an answer, because the person recognizes their own question.

What Telegram allows a bot to send

Follow-up on Telegram has rules that email does not. Telegram's introduction to bots says "Bots can't start conversations with users. A user must either add them to a group or send them a message first." A bot can only chase someone who already wrote to it.

There are rate limits. The Telegram bots FAQ says "In a single chat, avoid sending more than one message per second", that in a group bots cannot send "more than 20 messages per minute", and that for bulk notifications a bot cannot broadcast "more than about 30 messages per second, unless they enable paid broadcasts to increase the limit". Go over and "eventually you'll begin receiving 429 errors". A follow-up system that spaces one nudge per person over days never gets near those numbers. A system that fires the same line at the whole list at 9 am does.

The lead also has the last word. In the Bot API reference, the my_chat_member update for private chats "is received only when the bot is blocked or unblocked by the user". The lead can block the bot at any time, and every careless nudge is a chance to earn that.

How Telegram lead follow up works in Scalegram

There are two tools, and they are different on purpose.

The queued follow-up

The flow queues a message for whoever went quiet, hours or days later: after the broker link went out, or after the bot asked for the email. If the person replies before it is due, it cancels itself. This is the right tool for a fixed moment you already know about, such as the gap between sending the link and the account being opened.

The AI Follow Up block

This one is a chase. It sends up to five nudges at widening gaps, so the first comes soon and the last comes late. Each nudge is written fresh from where that conversation stopped, in the language the lead wrote in, from the product knowledge and saved replies you gave the bot.

The AI also calls the chase off by itself when chasing would be wrong. Scalegram names three cases: the person refused, the person already bought, or the person is waiting on you. The third is the one people miss. If the lead's last message was a question you have not answered, a nudge from your side is rude.

When a nudge does get a reply, the conversation goes back into the normal flow. The readiness condition reads it, the ready branch sends the link and asks for the email or account number, the bot checks that email against the broker's IB portal or the prop firm CRM over a read-only API, opens the paid group and files the client. The check itself is covered in how to verify a broker deposit automatically, and the whole sequence is drawn on the how it works section.

Follow-up without storing the chat

Writing a nudge from the conversation sounds like it needs a chat archive. Scalegram has no message table, and nothing said in a conversation is stored. What stays is the client card: stage, tags, UID, email, broker, deposit and dated notes. The card is also where you see who is stuck.

The bot sends as a bot. The personal account connection in Scalegram is read-only, with no drip campaigns and no automation of your own account. If you want to write to someone yourself, the card has an Open in Telegram button and you type it by hand. More on the client list in what a Telegram CRM is.

Follow-up versus outreach sequences

Some tools mean something else by follow-up. CRMChat sells outreach across multiple Telegram accounts. Its Telegram outreach page says "Set follow-up campaigns that nurture prospects over days or weeks automatically", that replies are "auto-sent to a unified inbox, where you can continue conversation", and that "Smart sending limits protect your accounts while ensuring Telegram compliance and maximizing reach". It adds that "When an account is reported or temporarily blocked, the system automatically pauses sending to cool it down". That is a tool for a sales team writing first to people who have not written to them, and for that job it is the stronger product. Scalegram does not do cold outreach at all. The page does not say whether a sequence stops when the prospect replies, so we make no claim either way. The two are compared in Scalegram vs CRMChat.

SendPulse covers the broadcast side. Its Telegram chatbot page says "You can schedule your messages, edit them before they reach your subscribers, and delete sent campaigns so that users don't see them anymore", and tells you to "Segment your audience based on user actions, interests, or pipeline stage". It is one message to many people, which is a different thing from a nudge written for one stalled conversation.

Setting it up

Start from the flow you already have. Queue a follow-up after the broker link goes out and another after the bot asks for the email. Then put an AI Follow Up block on the branch for people who are still deciding, and leave the gaps wide. Nobody is helped by a message every morning.

Give the bot what it needs to write well: the offer in plain sentences, the replies you send by hand, the PDF you always attach. A nudge is only as specific as the material behind it. If there are moments you want to approve, such as a discount offered to win someone back, put an Ask Me block there and the flow waits for a yes or no tap in your Telegram.

Follow-up is on both plans: Lite at $99 a month with one bot, and the full plan at $999 a month with no counts. The pricing section has the rest, and the guide to an AI bot that answers Telegram leads covers the first reply, which is where follow-up starts.

If your leads write to a bot and your sale ends with a broker account or a paid group, use Scalegram for the chase. If you need to write first to people who never contacted you, that is outreach, and CRMChat is built for it.

The nudge that gets an answer is the one about the lead's own question. The rule that keeps you unblocked is knowing when not to send it.

  • The AI Follow Up block sends up to five nudges at widening gaps, each written fresh from that conversation in the lead's language.
  • The AI stops chasing when the person refused, already bought or is waiting on you, and no message text is ever stored.

Frequently asked questions

How do I follow up with Telegram leads automatically?

Put a bot on your own Telegram that queues a message for leads who go quiet and cancels it if they reply. Scalegram does this with a queued follow-up on any step of the flow, plus an AI Follow Up block that sends up to five nudges at widening gaps, each written from where that conversation stopped.

Can a Telegram bot message someone who never wrote to it?

No. Telegram's bot documentation says bots can't start conversations with users; a user must add them to a group or send them a message first. Follow-up from a bot therefore only reaches people who already contacted it.

How many follow-ups should a Telegram lead get?

Few, and spaced further apart each time. Scalegram's AI Follow Up block caps the chase at five nudges at widening gaps and ends it earlier if the person refused, already bought or is waiting on you.

Does Scalegram send follow-ups from my personal Telegram account?

No. Follow-ups are sent by your bot. The personal account connection is read-only, with no drip campaigns and no automation of the account; the single write it can make is saving a contact when you click it.
