Telegram quick replies: what they do, and when a bot should send them instead

Quick replies save typing, but you still have to be awake to tap them. How saved replies work when an AI bot sends them for you.

Telegram quick replies are preset messages you send from your own account by typing "/" and picking a shortcut. They save typing, but you still have to be there to send them. Scalegram is the Telegram CRM for IBs and forex affiliates: its AI bot takes the saved replies you already use and sends them on its own, in the lead's language, at the moment the conversation calls for them.

Most IBs reach for quick replies the same week their channel starts getting real traffic. The same five questions arrive forty times a day. Which broker. Is there a minimum. How do I get into the group. What is the link again. Can you send the PDF. Typing the answers by hand stops working somewhere around the third campaign. Our guide to an AI bot that answers Telegram leads starts from the same problem.

What Telegram quick replies are

Quick replies came with Telegram Business. Telegram's Telegram Business announcement describes them as "shortcuts for sending preset messages that may contain several messages and support text formatting, links, stickers, media, and files." You type "/" in the message bar, a panel opens, and one tap sends the shortcut or opens it for editing. The same page says they work in private chats, and that all Telegram Business features are available for free to Premium subscribers.

There are limits. Telegram's Business API documentation says a maximum of quick_replies_limit shortcuts may be created, and that each shortcut can hold a maximum of quick_reply_messages_limit messages. The client configuration reference gives the defaults: 100 shortcuts, and 20 messages per shortcut. For one person answering one offer, that is more room than you will use.

Greeting and away messages

Two more Business tools sit next to quick replies. A greeting message goes out, per the Business API documentation, "to new users writing to us in private for the first time, or after a certain inactivity period." An away message goes to people "writing to us when we're offline, during closing hours, while we're on vacation, or in some other custom time period."

Both are fixed text. The greeting says the same thing to the person who wants the broker link and the person asking whether you are a scam. The away message tells a lead at 3 am that you will answer in the morning, which is honest, and leaves a lead who was ready to sign up waiting until you wake.

Where quick replies stop

A quick reply is a faster keyboard. Everything around it is still your job:

  • Reading the message and deciding which shortcut fits.
  • Noticing the lead wrote in Spanish and your shortcut is in English.
  • Checking whether the account they say they opened exists.
  • Letting them into the paid group, and writing down that you did.

None of that is a flaw in Telegram. Quick replies were built to save a person typing, and they do that well. The problem for an IB is that the slow part was never the typing. It was being awake, reading, deciding and checking, for every lead, every hour.

The same Telegram Business announcement adds chatbots for business: "Business users can connect Telegram bots that will process and answer messages on their behalf." Once a bot is answering, the preset text stops being something you tap and becomes material the bot draws on. That is the step our Telegram business chatbot guide covers in detail.

Telegram quick replies vs saved replies in a bot

The two look alike on the surface: a stored answer you wrote once. The difference is who decides to send it.

Quick replies win on one point: they are already inside Telegram, and if you only get a handful of leads a day and like answering each one yourself, they may be all you need.

How Scalegram uses saved replies

In Scalegram you describe your product in plain sentences, add the saved replies you already send by hand, attach the pictures and PDFs, and pick Grok, OpenAI or DeepSeek with your own API key. Then you draw the conversation as a flow and press start.

From then on the bot answers every message in the language it arrived in, using that material. Your saved replies are its source for the wording, so the answers sound like you and not like a generic assistant. If a Portuguese speaker asks about the minimum deposit, they get your answer, in Portuguese, at whatever hour they asked. The article on replying in every lead's language goes into how that works.

The sale around the reply

The reply is one step. An AI condition reads the conversation and decides whether this person is ready to buy, still deciding, or not a buyer, and the flow takes a different branch for each. On the ready branch the bot sends your broker link and asks for the email or account number. It then looks that email up in the broker's IB portal or the prop firm CRM over a read-only API, and answers from those records, not from what the lead claims. If the person qualifies, it approves their request to join the paid group, writes UID, email, broker and a dated note onto the client card, and moves the stage forward.

Leads who go quiet get a follow-up that cancels itself the moment they reply. Where you want the last word, an Ask Me block stops the flow and waits for a yes or no tap in your own Telegram. The full sequence is on how Scalegram works.

Managing replies from your own chat

Your private chat with the bot is an operations console. You can tell it to send a saved reply to someone, or to save a new one, and it does it in the same message. When you notice you have typed the same explanation three times in a week, you send it to the bot as a new saved reply and stop typing it.

What the bot will not send

A stored answer in a bot raises a fair worry: could a lead talk it into sending something it should not? Scalegram checks every outgoing message before it goes out. API keys and tokens, the bot's own instructions in any wording, and any email or account number the conversation cannot account for are removed. One lead never receives another lead's details, however the question is phrased.

Scalegram also stores no messages. There is no message table in the product. What stays is the client card: stage, tags, notes, and the details the bot filed. Our piece on a CRM that stores no messages explains what that means in practice.

Which one to use

Use Telegram quick replies if you answer leads yourself, a few a day, in one language, and you are happy being the person who checks accounts and opens the group. They are free with Premium and already in your app.

Use Scalegram if you are an IB, forex affiliate or prop firm affiliate running ads into a Telegram channel and the leads arrive faster than you can read them. Your saved replies become what the bot says, and the bot does the parts quick replies leave to you: deciding, checking the broker's records and opening the door. Lite is $99 a month and the full plan is $999 a month, with every feature on both; the pricing section lists the counts.

Sources

Write the answer once, the way you would say it. After that the bot should be the one sending it, at any hour, in the lead's own language.

  • Scalegram turns your saved replies into what its AI bot says, in the language each lead writes in, at any hour.
  • After the reply, Scalegram checks the account against the broker's records read-only, opens the paid group and files the client.
