Telegram Ads tracking means following a sponsored message from the view to the result you pay for. Telegram's own ad panel counts views and the joins or bot starts that came after them. For an IB, the result is a verified deposit, so the ad should point at a bot that answers the lead, checks the deposit and files the client. Scalegram is the Telegram CRM for IBs and forex affiliates, and its AI bot is built to be that destination.
This is a guide to Telegram's own ad platform, the sponsored messages shown inside public channels. For Meta, TikTok or Snapchat ads that send people to Telegram, read the Telegram tracker comparison instead. The mechanics are different.
What Telegram Ads are, by Telegram's own description
Telegram's Ad Platform guide describes the platform as "a tool to create sponsored messages in public one-to-many channels with 1000+ subscribers." You pick the channels yourself by entering their links, and once an ad is created "its targeting parameters can't be changed." To change targeting you copy the ad with "Create a similar ad" and submit a new one.
Pricing is per thousand views. The same guide says "the minimum CPM for a sponsored message is 0.1 Toncoin," and the ad keeps showing until it has spent its budget. The Telegram Ads home page adds that 50% of the revenue goes to the owners of the channels where the ads are displayed, and that ad text is limited to 160 characters.
The rule that decides how you track: Telegram links only
This is the part most tracking advice skips. The Ad Platform guide says: "All links included in the Text and URL field must link to a channel or bot on Telegram, using the format t.me/link or @link. Links to external sites are not allowed."
That rules out the usual web setup. A landing page with a pixel, a UTM-tagged address, a click id in the URL: none of it can sit behind a Telegram sponsored message, because the button cannot open a website. Scalegram's tracked links, its Websites and its server-side reporting to Meta, TikTok and Snapchat do their work on those three networks. Telegram Ads is not on that list, and we will not pretend it is.
So the destination has to be one of two things: your channel, or a bot.
What the Telegram Ads statistics show
Per the Statistics section of the guide, the tab shows the ad's creation date, CPM, budget and overall views, and a graph of "views of your sponsored message and the number of times a user joined your channel or started the bot after viewing the sponsored message," in minutes or days.
That count shows which placements produce joins or starts at what CPM. It ends there. Whether the person opened a broker account or funded it happens after the point Telegram's graph describes.
Channel or bot: which destination to buy
A channel destination gets you subscribers who read posts. Nobody talks to them unless they write first.
A bot destination starts a conversation. Telegram's Ad Policies and Guidelines say that when the destination is a bot, "links may include start parameters for the bot." Telegram's bot features page calls this deep linking, a mechanism "that allows additional parameters to be passed to the bot on startup."
Telegram also sets a quality bar for bot destinations. The guidelines say "Bots must respond to commands properly" on mobile and desktop, and they forbid "Mostly noninteractive bots designed to redirect elsewhere." A bot that only fires back your broker link and nothing else is the kind of destination that rule describes. A bot that holds a real conversation is the kind it allows.
For an IB that is the better trade. A started bot is a lead you can answer now. A channel join is a subscriber you hope will write later.
How Scalegram picks up where the ad graph stops
Point the sponsored message at the bot Scalegram runs on your own Telegram. From the first message, it does this on its own:
- Answers in the language the message arrived in, using the product knowledge, saved replies, pictures and PDFs you gave it.
- Reads the conversation and decides whether this person is ready, still deciding, or not a buyer, and takes a different branch for each.
- Sends your broker link and asks for the email or account number once they have signed up.
- Checks that email against the broker's IB portal or the prop firm CRM over a read-only API, so the deposit is confirmed from the broker's own records rather than from the chat. The steps are in how to verify a broker deposit automatically.
- Opens the paid group or channel when the person qualifies, at any hour.
- Files the client card with UID, email, broker and deposit, adds tags and moves the stage forward: New, Contacted, Interested, Account Opened, Deposited, Active, Churned.
- Follows up with whoever went quiet, and stops the moment they reply.
Where you want the last word, an Ask Me checkpoint stops the flow and waits for a yes or no tap in your own Telegram. Nothing said in the conversation is stored; Scalegram has no message table.
Counting Telegram Ads clients in the CRM
The simplest honest setup is a bot used only for Telegram Ads. Give its flow a step that tags every client it files, for example "tg-ads". In Clients, filter by that tag and by stage. Now you have two numbers side by side: starts from Telegram's graph, and clients at Account Opened and Deposited from Scalegram, every deposit checked against the broker's records.
If you run several placements, a separate bot per group of channels gives you a separate tag per group. Scalegram Lite includes one bot; the full Scalegram plan has unlimited bots. Both are on the pricing section.
Two limits, plainly. This method ties clients to a bot and its tag, not to one individual view, so a person who finds the same bot some other way lands under the same tag. And Scalegram does not send these results back into Telegram's ad panel. For networks that accept server events, Scalegram reports deposits to Meta, TikTok and Snapchat; that loop is explained in Meta ads to Telegram conversion tracking.
Telegram Ads panel and Scalegram, side by side
| Question | Telegram Ads statistics | Scalegram |
|---|---|---|
| How many people saw the ad? | Yes, views per ad | No |
| How many joined the channel or started the bot? | Yes, on the graph | Counts the conversations its bot holds |
| Did anyone answer the lead? | Not part of the stats | Yes, the AI bot, in the lead's language |
| Did they open an account and deposit? | Not part of the stats | Checked read-only against the broker's records |
| Where does the client end up? | Not part of the stats | A client card with stage, tags and notes |
| Cost per thousand views | Yes, set per ad | No |
You need both. Telegram's panel is the only place that knows views and spend. Scalegram is where the start turns into a client and a checked deposit.
Ad copy rules that catch IB campaigns
Telegram reviews every ad before it goes live. A few rules from the Ad Policies and Guidelines trip up trading-related offers more than others:
- The financial section bans get-rich-quick offers, investment offers that promise a fixed return and claims of insider tips. Paid products must state their terms clearly.
- "Exaggerated comparisons and absolute claims" such as "highest incomes" or "best company" are listed as deceptive.
- Ads may not highlight financial status or ask personal questions; the guidelines quote "Looking to pay off high debt?" as an example.
- The language of the targeted channel should match the language of the ad and of the destination.
- Promoted channels and bots need a profile image and a complete about or description text, and a channel needs at least one post in the two weeks before review.
The language rule matters for bot destinations. If you buy placements in Spanish channels, the bot behind the ad has to answer in Spanish. Scalegram's bot replies in the language the message arrived in, so one bot covers placements in several languages without a flow per language.
If the placements only ever produce channel joins, Telegram's graph is all the tracking you get. If they send people to a bot that sells and checks deposits, you can measure the campaign by clients. For an IB buying Telegram Ads, our recommendation is the bot.

Telegram's ad panel tells you who started the bot. The bot has to do the rest: answer, check the deposit with the broker, file the client.

Key takeaways
- Telegram Ads links must go to a Telegram channel or bot; the platform guide says external sites are not allowed, so web pixels and UTM landing pages cannot be used.
- Telegram's statistics show views and the joins or bot starts after them, with CPM and budget.
- Pointing the ad at a Scalegram bot lets the start become a conversation, a read-only deposit check and a client card.
- A bot used only for Telegram Ads, tagging every client it files, gives a client count next to Telegram's start count.
Frequently asked questions
How do I track Telegram Ads conversions?
Telegram's ad statistics count views and the joins or bot starts after them; to see deposits, point the ad at a bot that verifies them, such as a Scalegram bot that checks the deposit against the broker's records and files the client with a tag and stage.
Can a Telegram ad link to my website?
No: Telegram's Ad Platform guide says all links must go to a channel or bot on Telegram and that links to external sites are not allowed.
Can I use UTM tags or a pixel with Telegram Ads?
Not in the usual way, because the ad cannot open a web page; for bot destinations, Telegram's guidelines allow start parameters in the link, and its statistics report the bot starts.
Does Scalegram report results back to Telegram Ads?
No, Scalegram reports deposits server side to Meta, TikTok and Snapchat; for Telegram Ads, you compare Telegram's start count with the tagged clients Scalegram files, deposits included.
Should a Telegram ad point to my channel or my bot?
For an IB, a bot is usually the better destination, because a started bot is a lead that can be answered, qualified and verified at once, while a channel join is a subscriber who may never write.
Put one bot on your own Telegram
Scalegram answers every lead in the language it arrived in, checks the deposit against the broker's own records, opens the paid group and files the client. Lite starts at $99 a month.
